Pierogi sale and painting raffle

Skating at Checkered Bridge

HUDSON — St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 206 Union St., Hudson, is holding its homemade Pierogi sale 9:30 a.m.-noon Nov. 19. Varieties include potato and cheese filled and sauerkraut filled. Pierogis will be available both by advance orders as well as at the door.

In addition, an original 16 x 20 framed painting, “Skating at Checkered Bridge,” by local artist Joseph Holodook will be raffled on the day of the pierogi sale. Holodook is represented by Porterfield’s Fine Art and has been licensed extensively by Hallmark, Leanin’ Tree, Ravensburger, UNICEF and many others. His work is in both private and corporate collections. About this painting he states, “This image invites the viewer to enter a place far from fear and worries. A sense of community, family and friends joining together braving the winter chills, whether it’s a child’s first time on skates or an old pro showing of their prowess to the next generation. You may fall, but rest assured there is someone to help you get back on your feet. Trusted old friends and new lovers gather here to narrow the distance between them.“
