ALBANY – In an effort to help our most vulnerable community members safely access groceries, Honest Weight Food Co-op is opening their doors two hours early on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for the foreseeable future. Shopping from 6-8 a.m. on those days will be restricted to elderly shoppers and those at a higher risk of contracting severe cases of the novel coronavirus. The Co-op is open to the public from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. daily.

Early Bird Hours will be largely staffed by Honest Weight’s administrative staff. Limited staff and limited shoppers should allow everyone in the store to maintain safe social distancing, which is recommended at 6 feet or more. We ask that everyone who enters the store at any time practice social distancing, frequent handwashing, hand sanitizing and general consideration for others.

Honest Weight will continue to close early, at 8 p.m., every night to allow for deep cleaning, restocking, and to account for reduced staff hours as we encourage any staff member feeling unsafe or unwell to utilize paid sick leave and stay home.

Honest Weight has made other precautionary changes to their operations over the last two weeks, including cancellation of all classes and events and closure of their hot bar, made-to-order sandwich station, and cafe seating area. Housemade prepared foods are available in the store or online for delivery through Grubhub. Learn more online at
