HILLSDALE — A draft design for the renovation of Hillsdale’s Hamlet Park will be presented to residents during a Zoom meeting 7-9 p.m. Jan. 13.

The plan was created by Chazen Associates, a landscape design firm hired by the town to reimage the park, which is located southwest of the intersections of state Routes 22 and 23 in the center of Hillsdale Hamlet.

For the link to the Zoom meeting, go to the News & Notices section of the Town of Hillsdale website, at hillsdaleny.com. Residents may request a copy of the plan in advance of the meeting by emailing HillsdaleHamletCommittee@gmail.com. The public also may comment on the plan by using that email address.

The restoration of Hamlet Park is a project of the Hillsdale Hamlet Committee, which gathered input from residents through a survey and a public meeting in October. Residents said they would like a renovated village park that provides space for socializing, musical events, exercise, relaxing, picnics and play, for people of all ages.

The committee’s goal is to make the park a more inviting space for both community gatherings and everyday use. In addition, the committee believes a renovated park will support economic growth by bringing more people to the heart of Hillsdale to patronize its shops and restaurants.

fter the public meeting, the plan will be formally presented to the Hillsdale Town Board for review and approval. The Hamlet Committee then will turn its attention to fundraising, as the goal is to fund the project through state and other grants and private donations.
