CHATHAM — The snow may have fallen and the wind is blowing, but spring is arriving, and green things will sprout again. The Chatham Community Garden at Crellin Park has several garden plots available for this growing season. Families and individuals who are interested in gardening are invited to apply for a 15’ X 20’ plot. The fee is $35 for the season.

The Chatham Community Garden, now in its 20th season, is a joint project by gardeners together with the Town of Chatham and Community Agriculture of Columbia County, an educational organization dedicated to promoting a more localized food system. The Community Garden was initiated by the late Kate Dunham of Old Chatham. The Garden includes 18 household plots with an additional plot dedicated to growing food for the Chatham Silent Pantry.

If you live within the Chatham Central School District, are interested in gardening organically, are willing to maintain your own plot, and can put in a few hours helping take care of common chores to keep the area looking and functioning well; email ereis6267@gmail.com or call 518-428-4468 for information. Applications can also be picked up at Chatham Real Food Market Co-Op, 15 Church St. in Chatham.
