The Chatham Public Library offers curbside delivery 11 a.m.- 7 p.m. Monday and Wednesday; 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday and Friday; and 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday. Curbside delivery is offered 1-4 p.m. Wednesday and Friday at the Canaan Branch, 1647 County Route 5, Canaan.

How to request items: Browse the online catalog to place your holds. You will be notified when the item(s) are ready for pickup; contact us to schedule a pick up day. Return books, DVDs, CDs, magazines to the drop box outside of the library. Call to schedule return for Chromebooks, auto diagnostic tools and ukuleles.

Programs for Adults

1st Monday Book Discussion 7 p.m. Aug. 3. August’s book is Be Free or Die, by Cate Lineberry. Join in a friendly discussion via Zoom, contact library for the link. September’s book is White Tears, by Hari Kunzu, “a ghost story, a terrifying murder mystery, a timely meditation on race, and a love letter to all the forgotten geniuses of American music and Delta Mississippi Blues.” Books will be available for pick up at the library.

Memoir Writing 10:30 a.m.-noon Aug. 4, 11, 18, 25. Now meeting on Zoom. Writers of fiction, non-fiction and poetry are also welcome. Everyone has a story, share yours. Call Ilona Garcen 518-392-1178 for further information. New writers are welcome.

Cookbook Club 1 p.m. Aug. 20. So many cookbooks, food blogs, and recipe websites, how can you try them all? Join the Cookbook Club. Each month the club will pick a cookbook/website, take on different recipes, and meet online to discuss the results, starting with Bread Toast Crumb, by regional author Alexandra Stafford, from It’s a gorgeous book which combines the expertise of a professional chef with the warmth of a home-cooking mother of four. Alexandra will join the discussion online. Contact the library to sign up and pick your recipe.

Imagine Your Story -Summer Reading Program through Aug. 26. The Summer Reading Program continues. Keep track of minutes read and earn badges using READsquared online reading program. See library website Kid’s Page for more information and links.

Lego Club Friends. August’s Lego challenge: Imagine yourself sailing the seven seas……Can you build a sailboat? Send in your photos to make a display in the downstairs window.

Teen Book Discussion via Zoom Meeting 3-4 p.m. Aug. 25. Zoom book discussion for students in 9th to 12th grade. Jeff Zentner’s The Serpent King is the book for this month’s discussion. If interested, contact Becky at for more information.

Pick up a weekly craft kit available on Wednesdays during the month of August. Frog Game 8/5, Sound like a Swan 8/12, Ladybug Magnet 8/19 & Snake/Bracelet 8/26.
