CATSKILL — The Catskill Rotary Club was forced to cancel their 29th Annual Golf Tournament in August due to COVID-19. That said, businesses still donated to the event and the Club netted just over $10,000. Money that will be well spend in the community that is suffering due to the pandemic.

When locale nonessential businesses were forced to close in March, the Club decided a way to help the community businesses would be to purchase gift certificates at area restaurants. The gift certificates purchased would then be raffled off later in the year as a club fundraiser. Club members chipped in and purchased nearly $1,300 in gift certificates.

When it was decided to cancel the golf tournament, the club made the decision to raffle off the tickets to those businesses that sponsored the event and told us to keep the money. That raffle was held Nov. 17.
