CATSKILL — The Catskill Elks Lodge 1341 would like to bring attention to two opportunities for community youth:

Elks National Foundation (ENF) offers scholarships to eligible high school seniors:

n Most Valuable Student: applications will be judged on scholarship, leadership and financial aid.

Applications are only available online at enf.elks.org/mvs; the filing deadline is Nov. 15.

n Legacy Awards: children and grandchildren of dues paying members are welcome to apply. Applications will be judged on the core values of ENF (knowledge, charity, community service and integrity).

Applications are only available online at enf.elks.org/legacy; the filing deadline is Feb. 5, 2021.

Scholarship Chair Charlie Cinatti can be reached at charliecinatti@yahoo.com.

The Elks Grand Lodge’s Fraternal Committee offers students in 5th through 8th grades an opportunity to compete in this year’s Americanism essay contest.

This year, the theme has been identified as “How Can Patriotism Be Demonstrated.” There are two divisions: Division I is for students in grades 5 and 6; Division II is for students in grades 7 and 8.

All essays and cover sheets must be received at the Catskill Elks Lodge no later than Dec. 15.

Americanism Chair is Debbi Traficante who can be reached at dtrafic@yahoo.com

Further details on these programs have been sent to all Greene County school districts.
