HUDSON — Rebecca Pinder Ph.D., Associate Professor of Biological Sciences at Columbia-Greene Community College, recently provided nature lovers with a close, personal look at the hemlocks located throughout Olana’s 250-acre, artist-designed landscape.

Pinder led this Walking Tour on April 3.

Participants who joined Pinder on the walk were invited to locate hemlocks on the Olana property and take part in an immersive “tree mapping project” by the artist Jean Shin. Shin’s The‘Fallen’ art exhibition, celebrating the ecological importance and historical significance of hemlock trees, opens at Olana on May 1 and will be on view through October 31, 2021.

More information about The ‘Fallen’ is available at olana.org/exhibition/fallen.
