Oct. 18

ATHENS — The West Athens Fire Station 2, Leeds-Athens Road, Athens, will serve a take out only chicken barbecue 1-5 p.m. Oct. 18 to benefit the West Athens-Lime Street Fire Co. The cost is $12. Advance tickets only from members.

Oct. 22

CATSKILL — Friends of St. Patrick’s Catskill Inc. are holding a Drive Thru Frese’s Chicken barbecue 3:30-6:30 p.m. Oct. 22 at Dutchman’s Landing in Catskill. Dinners are $13 and include chicken, corn on the cob, cole slaw, potato, roll/butter and a cookie. Advance tickets are required. Tickets can be obtained at Jefferson Café at Dutchman’s Landing or by calling Nick at 518-755-7329 or Deb at 518-943-6990 (leave message if no answer). The proceeds will be used for the last payment to our Italian lawyer in pursuit of reopening our beautiful church.

TANNERSVILLE — Mountain Top Arboretum hosts Story Walk in the Woodland will be held Oct. 24 at the Mountain Top Arboretum, 4 Maude Adams Road, Tannersville. Admission is free. Visit Mountain Top Arboretum for a Story Walk. Journey through the Woodland Walk, enjoy the fall colors and read the pages of “Plop’s Hat” a wonderful book about mushrooms by Patricia Keely Murphy.

Craft supplies for a related craft will be available. This program is part of the Story Time in the Shade series, a collaboration between Mountain Top Arboretum and Mountain Top Library. Enjoy the story walk at your leisure. For information, call 518-589-3903; www.mtarboretum.org.

HUDSON — A Pet Food Drive for the CGHS/SPCA Food Bank will be held 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 24 at ShopRite in Hudson.

The CGHS/SPCA Food Bank is available to any residents of Columbia and Greene Counties who are having trouble feeding their pets because of financial hardship.

The food bank is a free service, and is open 11:30 a.m.-4 p.m. every day. Consider supporting the food bank with dry or canned dog and cat food.

Those who can’t stop by for the event may donate online at smile.amazon.com or chewy.com.

Oct. 30

CATSKILL — Catskill Elks Lodge, 45 North Jefferson Ave., Catskill, will host a drive thru/take out only chicken parm dinner beginning at 4:30 p.m. Oct. 30.

The cost is $13 for chicken parm, pasta, salad, bread and dessert. Must pre-order by Oct. 27 by calling 518-894-0271.

Oct. 31

GREENVILLE — The Greenville Rotary 6th annual Safe Trunk or Treat will be held 3-5:30 p.m. Oct. 31 in the parking lot of GNH, 11513 Route 32, Greenville. All adults and children 2 and older will be required to wear face masks. All foot traffic will be one way and directed by Rotary volunteers.

All vehicles will be socially-distanced and volunteers will be wearing masks and gloves, have hand sanitizer available and will distributed candy to each child individually.
