RHINEBECK — The Board of Trustees of Winnakee Land Trust announced the annual Winnakee Land Trust Gala, “An Enchanted Evening,” will be held 6-10:30 p.m. June 9. The event, which honors the accomplishments of Winnakee and raises funds to further the organization’s mission, will take place at Blithewood Manor, a 45-acre section of Bard College situated on the banks of the Hudson River which includes an historic Georgian-style mansion and Italianate garden built during the Gilded Age.
“To align with our work in protecting the natural beauty of our region, our gala committee seeks to host our largest fundraiser each year in a location that showcases our natural resources and reminds us of the importance of being good stewards of our land. Blithewood Manor is an exquisite site with stunning views — a perfect venue for this event. We expect that tickets will sell out very quickly,” said Carl Meyer, president of the Winnakee Land Trust Board of Trustees.
Added Kristin Page, member of the Winnakee Land Trust gala committee, “This event is not to be missed. We are all so fortunate to live in this wonderful part of the country, and organizations like Winnakee work tirelessly to protect our landscape. By attending the gala, guests help us raise funds needed to ensure that future generations get to experience the natural beauty that our families enjoy every day. This year’s raffle prize sounds like an amazing experience—a catered sunset dinner at the top of Burger Hill!”
The mission of Winnakee Land Trust is to “conserve natural and agricultural resources, providing a lasting legacy. Through the preservation of land and development of trails, we promote more resilient communities while engaging and connecting people to the cultural and scenic resources of the Hudson Valley.”
An accredited land trust, Winnakee has placed over 2500 acres of prime farmland and open space under conservation easements and has developed many miles of public access trails.
