Ulster BOCES Adult Career Education Center hosts open house

PORT EWEN — The Ulster BOCES Adult Career Education Center and SUNY Ulster are co-sponsoring an Open House 5:30-7:30 p.m. Jan. 17 at the Ulster BOCES campus, 319 Broadway (Route 9W) in Port Ewen. (Snow date Jan. 18.)

Ulster BOCES Adult Career Education programs provide students with customized career training, as well as instruction on a wide variety of special interest topics. Courses are also available to help improve adult literacy and prepare students for college.

During the Open House, prospective students will have the opportunity to tour the facility, meet with career counselors and instructors, register for classes, learn about financial assistance, and more.

Ulster BOCES programs that will be specifically highlighted during the event include HVAC & Oil Heat, Adult Cosmetology, Electrical Apprentice, Information Technology, Nursing Assistant, Practical Nurse, Surgical Technology, Credentialed Alcoholism & Substance Abuse Counselor, Worker Readiness, High School Equivalency, and English Language Learner.

Visitors can also learn more about dozens of community education courses offered by Ulster BOCES, such as Beginners Golf, Wild Edibles, and Mastering your Digital SLR Camera. Many of the programs are conveniently located throughout Ulster County, including locations in Ellenville, Highland, New Paltz, and Lake Katrine.

Information about many of SUNY Ulster’s Continuing Education programs will also be available during the event.
