Nov. 10 at 1 p.m. Beginning Birding and Project FeederWatch at Thacher Nature Center. November is a great time to observe birds at feeders and in your backyard. Try out binoculars, learn to use a field guide, and get tips to help you to identify almost any bird species.
Learn about Citizen Science and a project you can contribute to from the comfort of your own home. We will discuss different types of bird seed and feeders, and conduct a Project FeederWatch count. Bring binoculars and field guide or borrow ours. This indoor program is free and open to adults and children 7 and older. Call to register.
Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. “Oh No, I Think We’ve Created a Monster!” at Thacher Visitor Center.
The Friends of Thacher Park invite you to a presentation at their annual meeting. Dr. George Robinson, retired SUNY Biologist, will talk (and even sing) about his new children’s book, “The Thacher Park Monster (An imaginary tale set in a historical American place)”. The presentation will follow a brief business meeting that starts at 6:30 p.m. Stay for refreshments and mingle with Friends. Children are welcome.
Nov. 16 at 9 a.m. Autumn Hike in Thacher Park. Fall is the perfect season for hiking in the park.
Explore trails with Jim and Bonnie Schaller on an easy paced walk of about four miles. Trails are mostly level with a few moderate ups and downs. Bring a snack and water. Call to register and for meeting place.
