PRATTSVILLE — HAPPY FATHER’S DAY and treat your father to a day filled with love and companionship.

Speaking of fathers, Randy Brainerd had to purchase his own new lawn tractor because his mower caught on fire. Randy not only takes care of his own lawn, but mows the verges of Route 23A on both sides of his driveway. When asked why, he said he wanted it to look good. Simple as that. It does look better with your care, Randy, so thanks.

Get-well wishes go out to Ginny Kennedy who made an emergency trip to Bassett Hospital. The problem was corrected and she should be home at the time you are reading this. Give yourself some time to recover, Ginny.

Jack and son Adam Van Valkenburgh, of Gilboa/Conesville, will be in North Carolina to compete in the National Horseshoe Pitching Contest. Qualification is based on competition scoring. Jack will compete in the first three days of the week and Adam will do the last three days in separate contests. Good luck to the Van boys.

Anita Creazzo continues on her path to good health. Again, take time to take care of yourself. Al will take care of you.

Remember the Strawberry Supper at the Jewett Presbyterian Church 5 to 7 p.m. June 16. Takeouts begin at 4:30 p.m. Adults, $12; children 6-12, $6; under 5 free; $6 for shortcake only.

Sympathy to the family of Hilda Dent Fancher on her recent death. Last week, we asked cards be sent to Stan Fancher, Hilda’s husband, at Fox Nursing home and now we ask you send him a sympathy note. Also, his birthday is June 20 and he will surely appreciate birthday wishes this year. Address his cards to Stan J. Fancher Sr., Room 209, A.O. Fox Hospital Nursing Home, 1 Norton Ave., Oneonta, NY, 13820. Hilda and Stan were both school bus drivers for the Gilboa-Conesville Central School District and their children, grandchildren and siblings still live in the area. Our condolences to all the family.

Donnie Speenburgh and Paul Cozzoli did their duty, once again, by delivering a truckload of items to the Stratton VAMC in Albany. Thank you to all who so generously donated to this cause. You never forget our veterans who either gave or were willing to give their all. And because you never forget, we are able to give to them to ease their plight, and more importantly, to let them know they are not forgotten.

Rose Wilson and Devon Gurley moved into their new home recently and shared some pictures from the new site with us. See the accompanying sunset photo. Beautiful. And, congratulations and the best to you on your new home along with Rose’s daughter, Adrianna, as part of your family. New baby Arabella will be joining the young family in July.

In talking to Stan Fredenburgh, he and wife Sandy are due some congratulations on the birth of granddaughter thanks to daughter Tiffany and husband. Tiffany is a teacher in the middle of the state — not sure of the town or school so won’t mention any name. Their other daughter, Crystal, is an employee of Central Hudson and has been for many years now. Proud dad said she travels all over the country in her capacity as a CPA in their financial department. Sandy and Stan — good job.

Stop by the Gilboa UMC, Route 30, on Saturday for a huge estate sale under the auspices of Chari and John Stanhart. There are sure to be great deals and hidden treasures plus you get to hobnob with neighbors from neck of the woods.

Diana Jaeger had her father Dave Truesdell AKA Mr. T. out for a ride Friday, a beautiful day. Dave got to see Bob Gurley, a friend from the old days. Dave was an usher in Bob’s wedding almost 62 years ago. They rehashed some memories and renewed their friendship.

Thank you to all who bought raffle tickets from the American Legion Virgil E. Deyo Post No. 1327 for the ZT lawn mower and others who just donated. The drawing is June 14, so will announce the winner next week. It was their first time in attempting something of this magnitude and it was neigh on perfect. Thanks again. The legionnaires and their brethren appreciate your support.

Jim, Peggy, John and Jessica Young spent some time away from store duties and they certainly can use the down time to enjoy family including baby Adalynne.

Fritzie and Lou Schmidt, Marianne and Johannes Krauss, Dana Hommel and Cathy Martino, Diana and Arnold Jaeger and Bob and Ginny Gurley met up at the Gurleys for wine and snacks before heading off to the Chalet Fondue for a most enjoyable dinner and evening. Although it was just a dinner for friends, it did happen to be Bob’s birthday so happy birthday wishes were extended to him, along with song.

Bob and Ginny Gurley, Bob Jr. and Jen Traver spent the weekend in New Jersey at Peter and Marcia Gurley Toccis’ home. Three milestones were celebrated. Peter celebrated his 60th birthday June 9, Marcia and Peter celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary June 10 and a baby shower was held in honor of their daughter, Brittany Tocci Pryun. Baby Lukas Tocci Pryun has a scheduled appearance date of around the middle of August. Luks will be the Toccis first grandchild and it is funny to hear some of the proposed names for the new grandparents. “Chief” for Peter and “Duchess” for Marcia. Whatever happened to plain ole grandpa and grandma? Well, those names are sort of boring, so onto the new.

Lacey Brand is wished a happy birthday June 15. On June 16, we wish Gerald Mark Mead a very happy birthday. Sandy Traver and Alan Huggins are sent happy birthday greetings June 18. June 20 is Donnie Speenburgh’s day, so happy birthday Donnie. Al Creazzo is wished a happy birthday June 21. We wish Erin O’Hara Meyer and Ken Maurer happy birthday June 22.

Happy anniversary wishes go out to Ken and Janelle Maurer on June 16.
