COXSACKIE — A Freeport man was arrested last Monday after police found he had 1.8 pounds of marijuana on the New York State Thruway in Coxsackie, according to a statement from state police.
Shanon M. Wilson, 33, of Freeport, was charged with second-degree criminal possession of marijuana, a class D felony, and vehicle and traffic violations, according to a statement from New York State Police.
Wilson was traveling on the Thruway at about 10:51 a.m. last Monday when state police pulled him over for vehicle and traffic violations, according to police. When police interviewed Wilson, they had probable cause to search his vehicle, police said.
During the search, troopers found Wilson had about 1.8 pounds of marijuana in his possession, according to the statement. He was taken into custody, transported and processed at the state police barracks in Albany.
Wilson was arraigned in Coxsackie Town Court and held in lieu of $20,000 cash or $40,000 bond, according to state police.
