Police charge Athens man with sexual abuse

ATHENS — A Greene County man is accused of sexual misconduct with a minor, according to police.

Police said Matthew McLoughlin, 48, of Athens, was arrested Sept. 6 following an investigation of alleged child abuse. The investigation was led by the Greene County Sheriff’s Office.

McLoughlin was charged with two counts of sexual misconduct with a minor, class D felonies, and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, class A misdemeanors, police said.

McLoughlin was sent to the Greene County Jail on $3,000 bail or a $6,000 bond, police said.
