Phippen earns MAAC honors

POUGHKEEPSIE — Freshman pitcher Calista Phippen, a 2018 Ichabod Crane graduate, was named the MAAC Co-Rookie of the Year to highlight Marist Softball’s presence in the 2019 Softball All-MAAC teams and major award winners, the conference announced on Wednesday evening.

In addition to being named Co-Rookie of the year, Phippen was named First Team All-MAAC.

*Phippen pitched an impressive 1.38 ERA over the season, the second-lowest in the MAAC.

*She collected 18 wins in her first campaign, only taking four losses.

*In 28 appearances, the Kinderhook native tossed 147.0 innings, allowing just 104 hits and 35 runs. Phippen fanned 175 batters, with 48 of them going down looking.

*The Red Fox threw 12 complete games, and was named an NFCA Top-25 Freshman Selection in April.

*Phippen ranks top-40 in the NCAA in ERA (21st), strikeouts per seven innings (37th), and strikeout-to-walk ratio (38th).

*Phippen won MAAC Pitcher of the Week twice and Rookie of the Week four times.
