CLAVERACK — Two men, one from Greene County, the other from Columbia County, are facing several violation and misdemeanor charges after a DWI traffic stop Wednesday on Route 23.
Ian H. Rasweiler, 24, of Hudson, was charged with driving while intoxicated, an unclassified misdemeanor; and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation, according to state police.
Keith Mazal, 26, of Hunter, was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class A misdemeanor; and possession of a controlled substance outside of its original container, a violation, according to state police.
They were pulled over in their vehicle at 12:10 a.m. Wednesday after police said troopers observed Rasweiler commit several traffic infractions.
Troopers detected a “strong odor” of alcohol coming from Rasweiler, according to state police. Rasweiler also had a small amount of marijuana, state police said.
Mazal, who was a passenger in the vehicle, possessed Alprazolam pills and a crushed substance that appeared to be Alprazolam, state police said. Investigators are awaiting final lab results on the crushed substance.
Rasweiler and Mazal were issued appearance and traffic tickets to return to Claverack Town Court at a later date.
