We extend deepest sympathy to Dale and Warren Strausser and the family of Ellen Strausser. Ellen passed away June 9.

Many thanks to everyone who prepared the food — and 100 quarts of strawberries — and came to enjoy the delicious Strawberry Supper at the Lexington United Methodist Church on Saturday. So nice to see everyone in fellowship.

Birthday greetings to Patty Minew on June 14. Celebrating birthdays June 17 are Francine Melodia and Elizabeth Haines and Moriah Gallagher. Skeet Constable’s birthday is June 18. Best wishes to all.

There are two Bible studies available — 6 p.m. Mondays at the Lexington United Methodist Church studying the book of Acts and 7 p.m. Wednesdays at the Jewett Firehouse (Route 17) studying the Gospel of John. All are encouraged and invited to attend.

June 20 is the next book club meeting at the home of Diane Clarke in West Kill at 6 p.m. to discuss “Shall We Tell the President?” by Jeffrey Archer.

Greene County Senior Nutrition Program menu for the week of June 18–June 22 is as follows: Monday — Shepherd’s pie, green beans, cauliflower, fruit cocktail; Tuesday — Seafood scampi, brown rice, broccoli, vanilla mousse; Wednesday — Ice Cream Soda Day: pork loin, coleslaw, mashed potatoes, carrots, ice cream sodas (HDM-fruit); Thursday — Hungarian goulash, egg noodles, cauliflower, Italian mixed vegetables, fruited gelatin; Friday — Turkey tortellini salad, hard-boiled egg, farm-fresh spinach salad, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, fresh fruit.

Everyone over 60 is invited to attend. Meals are served at noon for a suggested donation of $4 per meal. Please call at least a day in advance to reserve your meal. Mountain Top Senior Service Center is located at the Jewett Municipal Building, Route 23C, 518-263-4392.

Next Lexington Farmers Market will be 10 a.m.-noon June 23 under the pavilion at the Lexington Municipal Building.

There is no Greene County Public Health rabies clinic scheduled for July.

June 30 is the West Kill/Lexington Community Improvement Association’s Chicken Barbecue at the community hall, 141 Spruceton Road, West Kill. Takeouts are available starting at 4:30 p.m. and dining room service starts at 5 p.m., or $12 an adult meal includes half a barbecued chicken, homemade potato salad, baked beans, cole slaw, brownies and cookies. A chicken leg dinner for children ages 6-12 are $5 and children under 5 are free and a chicken half is $8.
