MURDER CAFÉ celebrates its 20th anniversary at UNISON ARTS CENTER with Murder at the Mansion, a gilded age mystery with history.
NEW PALTZ, NY: Murder Café was launched in 1998 by HudsonValley residents Frank and Kristen Marquette with a “noir” mystery set in the 1940s. After producing and performing over 1000 shows for private, public and fundraising events, Murder Café is bringing their original play, Murder at the Mansion, to UnisonArtsCenter in New Paltz on Saturday, June 16th at 7 pm.
Written by local actor, director and writer Anika Krempl for Murder Cafe, Murder at the Mansion is set in1890. You are invited to mingle with Frederick and Louise Vanderbilt and their wealthy neighbors, John Jacob Astor and his society wife Ava, as well as VassarCollege professor Percy Longfellow. You'll be fussed over by the Vanderbilt’s loyal butler, Horace, and their fortune-hunting maid, Charlene. Katherine Kerry, a society reporter for the New Paltz Record will be on the scene and she observes much more than glitz and gaiety when she witnesses a murder. Guests are invited to guess whodunit.
In March 2017 Murder Café performed Murder at the Mansion at Mohonk Mountain House as part of their 40st annual Murder Mystery Weekend.
The evening at UnisonArtsCenter in New Paltz will include a buffet dinner, wine and desserts. The cost is $40 for the general public, $35 for Unison members and $30 for students and seniors. Reservations are a must and can be made by calling 845-255-1559.
