UTICA -- Mohawk Valley Community College had four players score in double figures en route to a season-opening 83-47 victory over Columbia-Greene Community College in Mountain Valley Conference women's basketball action on Wednesday.
The Hawks jumped out to a 36-19 lead by halftime and never looked back.
Kadijah Jones had a double-double for MVCC, scoring 17 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. Alyzae Davis and Kathryn Kanhoye each had 13 points and Jasmine Michaux contributed 12 points.
Tanisha Edge topped the Twins with 17 points. She also grabbed seven rebounds. Hudson High graduate Selena Jones had eight points; All'aha Albright had six points, nine rebounds and six assists; Amira Furtado six points and six rebounds; and Anyla Harper six points and four rebounds.
Columbia-Greene plays Word of Life on Friday at 2 p.m. in the opening round of the Goldberg Classic at the Greenport campus.

UTICA — Columbia-Greene Community College kicked off its 2017-18 men’s basketball season with a loss on Wednesday night, falling to Mohawk Valley Community College 82-66.
Four members of the C-GCC team hit double digit scoring totals with Jahrice Ballard leading the way with 15 points and three steals in his collegiate debut.
Rayquan Bryant added 13 points and seven rebounds while Jordan Wright and Matthew Smith each chipped in with 10 points.
The Twins (0-1) head back onto the hardwood Friday with a game against Word of Life in the opening round of the annual Goldberg Classic tournament at 4 p.m.
