Michael C. Daly

Michael C. Daly, 65, of Claverack, passed away peacefully September 6, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 31, 1952 in Mount Kisco, to Clare and Genevieve (Cutler) Daly. On January 31, 1976 he married Linda (Bielefeldt), together they enjoyed 42 years of marriage. He served his county in the Army from 1973 to 1976 as a military police officer. After his honorable discharge he went on to become a police officer with the New York State Park Police, working his way through the ranks to become Chief. In 2005, he retired after 33 years of proud service. In his retirement he spent 12 years fly fishing all over New York State. Also he served as Deacon at the Reformed Dutch Church of Claverack.

Michael is survived by his wife Linda, his two daughters; Rosemarie and Jon Groner and Jennifer and Shannon Lane. His six grandchildren; Michael and Anabel Groner, Caitlyn, Alexis, Joe, and Sophia Lane. Also surviving is his brother, Dennis and his wife Gail Daly. In addition to several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a large extended family.

He was predeceased by his parents, and his sister, Patricia Chiacchia.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 5, 2018 at 12:00 PM, at the Reformed Dutch Church of Claverack, 88 Route 9H, Claverack, New York. Inurnment will follow the service at the Dutch Reformed Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Michael’s memory to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Community Hospice of Columbia and Greene Counties, The Salvation Army, or to The Veterans Miracle Center.
