EARLTON – Mary Garden, 87, of Earlton, lost her battle with dementia at Ten Broeck Commons in Lake Katrine on September 9, 2019. Born July 17, 1932, in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Meehan) Ward.

Mary raised three children. She lived in Brooklyn for many years before moving to Earlton, NY in 1961. Mary received her AAS from Columbia Greene while working at Adult Protective Services from which she retired in 1994.

Mary had many interests including painting and drawing, travel, watching crime shows and was an avid reader. She never met an animal that she didn’t feed. Mary loved all of her cats and dogs over the years. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law, John and Rosa Ward; and her sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Hugh “Sonny” Gill. Survivors include her three children, Sandy (Helene) Garden, Thomas Garden, Mary (Michael Sr.) Lupoli; three grandchildren, Victoria (Scott) Lounsbury, Melissa Kuhn, Michael Lupoli Jr; and four great-grandchildren, Hailie and Morgan Lounsbury, Levi and Wyatt Kuhn; along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Her compassion for those less fortunate was legend. Her generous spirit will not pass this way again soon.
