HUDSON — A 31-year-old man who was shot in the chest on Third Street in the city Tuesday night has died, police said.
Hudson Police are investigating the shooting as a homicide, Chief Edward Moore said Wednesday.
The incident was reported to police around 8:41 p.m. The man, who has not been identified, was taken to Columbia Memorial Hospital in critical condition and underwent surgery, but ultimately succumbed to his injuries, Moore said.
On Aug. 12, a 28-year-old Stockport woman was shot in the shoulder as she sat in her vehicle with a man and an infant. On Aug. 13, a woman was shot through the calf and her 2-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son were shot in the knee.
Police have not determined if Tuesday’s homicide is related to last week’s incidents.
“We don’t want to draw any conclusions now,” Moore said.
Vehicles from several law enforcement agencies, including state police, were parked near the corner of North Third and State streets Tuesday night near the scene of last weekend’s shootings.
“Residents should know we have a lot of police officers in town,” Moore said. “We are doing our best to keep everyone safe.”
