September 21, 2018 05:09 pm

GREENVILLE — A 21-year-old Schenectady County man was killed in a motorcycle crash Friday, police said.

Christian A. Peters-Restifo, 21, of Schenectady, was driving a 2017 Harley Davidson west on county Route 67 when he struck a car head-on, said Greene County Coroner Richard Vigilo.

Vigilo pronounced Peters-Restifo dead at the scene at 9 p.m.

New York State Police investigated the crash west of Big Woods Road.

Peters-Restifo died of a fractured neck, state police Senior Investigator Pete Kusminsky said Monday.

Peters-Restifo struck a 2010 Honda driven by Mitchell Smith, 32, of Albany. Smith was uninjured and evaluated at the scene, Kusminsky said.

The cause of the crash is pending a toxicology report, which is not expected to be completed for at least two weeks, Kusminsky said. During the initial investigation, police found Peters-Restifo failed to negotiate a curve, Kusminsky said.

Peters-Restifo was a graduate of Berne-Knox-Westerlo High School in Berne and a member of the longshoreman union, according to his obituary on the Fredendal Funeral Home’s website.

“His smile and ability to bring light, joy and happiness into this world and into each and every day was absolutely infectious,” according to the obituary. “To know Christian, was to love Christian.”

Calling hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Fredendall Funeral Home, 199 Main St., Altamont.

The Freehold Fire Department assisted at the scene.
