The Catskill Lady Cats are off to a strong start in 2017 and own several of the top spots on the leaderboard after the first two weeks of action.

Jillian Murray is tied with Crane’s Gabbie Cox for the goals lead, Maci Mosher sits as the lone wolf in the assists column, and Murray and Mosher are tied for the lead in points.

From individual play to team play, and the Catskill Lady Cats sit atop the Conference with a perfect 3-0-1 record, however, the owner of the best conference standing is held by Maple Hill. The Wildcats upended Chatham in week two to start the season 2-0 in Patroon play.

Cox, thanks to her four-goal outing in a win over Ravena, sits atop the goals leaderboard with five on the season. She’s currently scored five of the team’s six goals on the year.

T-1. Gabbie Cox: ICC: 5 Goals

T-1. Jillian Murray: CAT: 5

T-3. Kelley Hair: C-A: 4

Thanks to her five goals and one assist, Murray finishes week two as the top points leader, but she shares that title with Mosher, who has had a balanced season thus far scoring three times and assisting on five other scores.

T-1. Maci Mosher: CAT: 11

T-3. Jenna Quick: CAT: 10

T-3. Gabbie Cox: ICC: 10

Despite holding one loss on the season, falling to Cobleskill-Richmondville in a non-league opener, the Maple Hill Lady Wildcats rattled off consecutive Patroon Conference victories to hold a 2-0 record within the conference to lead after two weeks of action. However, Cairo-Durham, Catskill and Greenville are close.

1. Catskill Lady Cats: 3-0-1 (1-0-1 Patroon)

2. Maple Hill Lady Wildcats: 2-1 (2-0)

3. Greenville Lady Spartans: 2-1-1 (1-0-1)

4. Cairo-Durham Lady Mustangs: 2-0 (1-0)

5. Chatham Lady Panthers: 1-2-1 (1-1)

6. Coxsackie-Athens Lady Indians: 1-3 (0-2)

7. Taconic Hills Lady Titans: 0-3 (0-3)

Heading into week three, the game of the week will feature the top-two teams in the league: Catskill and Maple Hill. The Lady Wildcats, fresh off a quality shutout victory over Chatham, look to try and shutdown the offensive attack of Catskill who enter the game with an unblemished record and 15 goals in four games. The Lady Cats average nearly four goals per game.

The keys to the game for Maple Hill will be trying to slow down the likes of Mosher, Quick, Bulich and Murray along with finding the net themselves. The Lady Wildcats only average a shade over a goal per game this season.

As for Catskill, it’s continuing to do what they’ve done all year and that’s put the ball in the net in bunches. In addition to that, shutting down Maple Hill’s top offensive threat, Alayna Fletcher, who leads Maple Hill with three goals this season, is a priority.

The top two teams square-off Thursday at 4:15 p.m.
