Josh Keyes is free to sign with another NFL team after the third-year pro from Chatham agreed to an injury settlement with the Atlanta Falcons on Monday, according to the NFL’s transaction report.
Keyes was placed on the injured reserve list after the team’s final preseason game last month.
The extent of the injury, or time table for return, has not yet been released.
Keyes was impressive during the preseason ranking in the top two in tackles for Atlanta during each contest, finishing with 21 tackles (15 solo) in four games.
Keyes began his career as an undrafted free agent with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers where he spent two seasons bouncing between the practice squad and the full roster.
In his time with the Bucs, Keyes played in 11 games, recording 10 tackles.
Last year, he played in one game with the Falcons during the regular season and traveled with the team to the Super Bowl, where Atlanta lost to New England.
