“She is the type of person we all strive to be”
Kathleen Mary Barrett Jornov 66, of Fogelsville, Pennsylvania and formerly of Hudson, New York, passed away on the afternoon of Sunday, November 11, 2018 at The Lehigh Valley Hospital CC in Allentown, Pennsylvania, surrounded by her loving family, following a 10-month courageous fight with Pancreatic Cancer.
Katie was born in Cornwall, NY on October 5, 1952 to the late John A. Barrett, Sr and the late Maree A. Barrett Kirwan. Katie was a 1970 graduate of Hudson High School.
Katie was married in Hudson, New York to the love of her life in August of 1972. They spent years together, raising their children, building a life, moving to several states where she touched the lives of all who met her. She loved to travel, especially back home to Upstate and loved the ocean and many beach vacations they would take every year, but there was nothing she loved more, and nothing she was more proud of, than her children and grandchildren. She was the most amazing and devoted daughter, wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend anyone could ever ask for. She had a love for her job as a floral designer at the Rosary and Chatham Flower shops during her time in New York and owned her own flower shop in Medford, New Jersey in the 1990’s. She worked for Dayton Superior Corporation while living in Illinois, but her full time and most important job was being the center and steady rock of her family, taking care of anyone and everyone in her path unconditionally and always doing it with a smile and a positive attitude. Spreading her light and love anywhere she went and leaving a little bit with all of us who loved her. Optimistic and full of hope, even in her last days of life, she believed strongly in her faith and never gave up on life no matter how tumultuous it got at times. She was a pure soul who loved to laugh and smile and live in the moment. She is now joining her brother she loved dearly Daniel Patrick Barrett (1960-2012) and her beloved son Michael Barrett Jornov (1988-2005) both of whom she missed beyond measure.
Katie will be greatly missed by her Husband of 46 years Myron Jornov,, son Craig and his wife, Annette, of Omaha, NE,, daughter Kristin and her husband, Patrick, of Bethlehem, PA,, son Kyle and his wife Amber, of Fogelsville, PA,,
and her pride and joy, her 10 Grandchildren Eric, Ryan and Sara (Craig) Natalie, Annabel and Barrett (Kristin) Trey, August, Emerson and Grace (Kyle).
She is also survived by her brothers, John Barrett Jr. of Warren, Ct. and Thomas Barrett of Glen Allen, VA., and her sisters Maree (Penny) Spampinato of Copake, NY, Ruthanne Schaufler of Chapel Hill, NC, Elizabeth (Betsy) Cullen of Hudson, NY. She also leaves many loving In-laws, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and friends.
Calling hours will be on Friday 4-7 at Bates and Anderson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10AM at St. Mary’s Church / Holy Trinity Parish (429 E. Allen St. Hudson, NY) with a burial to follow in Cedar Park Cemetery.
