Indians roll past Panthers

CATSKILL -- The Coxsackie-Athens Indians cruised to a 5-0 victory over Chatham on Thursday in Patroon Conference bowling action at Hoe Bowl Lanes in Catskill.

The Indians won total wood by 248 pins, 2,556-2,308.

Freshman Leo Woytowich had the high series of the afternoon with a 502 and high game for Coxsackie-Athens came from senior Kamryon Harris with a 176.

For the Panthers, Andrew Duso rolled a 169 high game.

"Tough up and down games against a persistent Chatham team," said Coxsackie-Athens coach Matthew Nash. "It came down to shots made by all team members from both teams."

With the win, Coxsackie-Athens improves to 2-1.

Hudson 5, Taconic Hills 0

GREAT BARRINGTON -- The Hudson Bluehawks improved to 3-0 on the season with a 5-0 victory over Taconic Hills on Thursday in Patroon Conference Bowling action at Cove Lanes in Great Barrington.

The Bluehawks won by game scores of 891-599, 978-636, and 938-584. Hudson won total wood by 988 pins, 2807-1819.

Hudson was led by Matt Bowes, who shot a match high 535 triple with a 189 high game, however, the high game for Hudson came from Robert Everhart with a 217 in game three. He finished with a 530 triple.

For Taconic Hills, Carmen Morales rolled team-high 355 triple and William Barlow had the high game of a 133.

Hudson improves to 3-0 on the year.

Catskill 3, Cairo-Durham 2

CATSKILL — Michael Jubie rolled a 204-554 to spark Catskill to a 3-2 victory over Cairo-Durham in Thursday’s Patroon Conference bowling match.

Catskill had a total pinfall of 2,736,w hile cairo-Durham had 2,720.

Nick Place had a 183-490 for the Cats (2-1). Max Marchesani added a 189-490.

Phil Decker led Cairo-Durham with a 234-602. Chris Morse spun a 190-556 and Nate Woodcock had a 427 triple.


Schalmont 42, Ichabod Crane 27

VALATIE — Schalmont earned five victories by pin in a 42-27 decision over Ichabod Crane in Thursday’s Colonial Council wrestling match.

Phil Saunders recorded Ichabod Crane’s only victory by pin, stopping Nick Fieba in 5:04. Jair Gomez, Omar Gomez, Jared Kwarta, Jerald Rhodes and Colby Fisher all won their martches by decision for the Riders.

Hunter-Tannersville 83, Windham-Ashland-Jewett 25

HUNTER — In the first installment of the Battle for the Mountain Top, the Hunter-Tannersville Wildcats dominated the Windham Warriors, taking home an 83-24 victory Thursday night in Delaware League basketball action.
Coming off losses to Catskill and Voorheesville in the Catskill Tip Off Classic last week, coach Chris Glennon and the Wildcats were determined to get this win and get back on track. 
Hunter pushed the ball all night on their cross town rivals and utilized their defense to fuel their offense. Glennon had his team work in the press in the second, third, and fourth quarters and they also played solid half-court defense to stymie the Warriors offense.
The Wildcats offense was led by Jason McDevitt with 25 points, eight rebounds, three steals. Sixth-man Cole Matthews added 15 points and three 3-pointers and starting guard Kaeden Leach finished with 12.
The Warriors were led by Chad Stang with six points and Trent Post with five.
Hunter-Tannersville (1-2, 1-0) travel to Downsville on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
