RAVENA-COEYMANS-SELKIRK — The RCS Indians football team suffered its third loss of the season on Friday, Sept. 22, to Cobleskill-Richmondville.
The Bulldogs held the Indians scoreless until the end of the third quarter, when the score was 27-0.
With four minutes to go in the third, the Bulldogs punted and the Indians took over possession on the Bulldogs’ 26-yard line.
Two minutes later, RCS made its first score of the game on a rushing touchdown, bringing the score to Bulldogs 26, Indians 6. The extra point was missed.
But the score didn’t last for long as the Bulldogs made a rushing touchdown of their own with under a minute to play in the third quarter, bringing the score to 33-6. The extra point, this time, was good.
The Indians would not back down, and with nine minutes left in the game scored their second rushing touchdown, putting the score at 34-12. A 2-point rushing conversion was completed, for a 34-14 game.
As in the third quarter, the Indians’ success would not last long as the Bulldogs several minutes later scored again on a rushing touchdown and a successful extra point. The game was 41-14.
Despite the score, though, RCS would not let up and with under a minute of play left, crossed into the end zone for another rushing touchdown, followed by a failed 2-point conversion.
The final score was Cobleskill-Richmondville 41, RCS 22.
The Indians’ record now stands at 1-3 on the season.
The team will next play against the Lansingburgh Knights in a home conference game on Friday, Sept. 29, at 7 p.m. The Knights’ record also currently stands at 1-3.
