TANNERSVILLE — Hunter-Tannersville claimed bragging rights in the first installment of the Battle of the Mountain Top on Monday night as the Wildcats picked up a 75-38 win over Windham-Ashland-Jewett.
HTC got off to a fast start, putting up 20 points in the first quarter and 28 in the second.
Leading the way for the Wildcats was sophomore Kaeden Leach who logged his varsity-best 21 points, including 13 in the wildcats’ second quarter run. He finished with four three-pointers, seven rebounds and four steals.
Other Wildcats who contributed were senior Richard Kenneally who tallied 16 points and 10 rebounds. Junior Cole Mathews chimed in with 11 points.
From the Windham side, the Warriors were lead by John Hewitt with 11 points as Trent Post chipped in 10 points, including two treys in the first half.
The Wildcats and Warriors will meet later in the season on Jan. 18 in Tannersville for the second installment of the series.
The win moves the HTC Wildcats to 2-1 on the season as they return to action on Wednesday night in Tannersville against the Roxbury Rockets with a 7 p.m. tip.
