HUDSON — The Greenville Lady Spartans battled to a 3-1 match victory over the Hudson Lady Bluehawks in Patroon Conference volleyball action Monday night.
It wasn't any easy affair for Greenville to capture a 3-1 match victory, Hudson tested them throughout the night and it started in the first set with the Lady Bluehawks up 15-8. However, the Lady Spartans battled back to take a the set 25-23.
The second set, Greenville was in total control over Hudson, cruising to a 25-15, yet that was not the case for Greenville in the third set.
Despite Greenville dominating the early portion of the third set and looking to sweep Hudson, the Lady Bluehawks battled back from deficits of 15-11 and 18-14 to take a 19-18 lead.
Greenville and Hudson traded points with the teams tied at 23 apiece before Hudson rallied back-to-back points to steal the third set 25-23 and force a fourth set.
In the fourth set, Greenville once again got off to a fast start taking a 9-3 lead, but Hudson continued to fight back making it a 19-18 later in the set before the Lady Spartans finished the set off with six straight points to take the set 25-19 and win the match 3-1.
"Both teams played very tough the whole night through," said Hudson coach Chuck Peters.
Hudson was led by Sarah Alvarez with 16 points (13 kills, 3 service points), Katie Jepsen added 13 points (11 kills, 1 service point, Danielle McDonald chipped in 11 points (2 kills,9 service points), Mollie Keeler contributed nine points (4 kills, 5 service points), and Nicole Conte finished with nine points (3 kills, 6 service points).
Hudson (3-1) travels to take on Maple Hill today at 5:30 p.m.

CASTLETON — Maple Hill blanked Coxsackie-Athens 3-0 in Patroon Conference volleyball action Monday night.
Maple Hill won by set scores of 25-22, 25-19, and 25-16.
Taconic Hills 3, Albany Leadership 0
CRARYVILLE — Taconic Hills cruised past Albany Leadership 3-0 in Patroon Conference volleyball action Monday night.
Taconic Hills won by set scores of 25-9, 25-11, and 25-13.
Emma Leipman led the Titans with four kills and four aces, Katie Runyon chipped in with five kills and five aces, and Morgan Monty finished with 15 assists and five aces.
Taconic Hills (3-2) travels to Coxsackie-Athens today at 5:30 p.m.
