GREENPORT — The 2017 Greenport Community Day will take place 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sept. 23 at Greenport Town Park on Joslen Boulevard in Greenport.
There will be activities for all ages, including a coloring contest, harvest dash, rock climbing wall, available from noon-4 p.m.; pumpkin painting, face painting, bounce houses and slides, craft vendors, chinese auction, raffle for bicycles and furniture, a 50/50 raffle, plus a special appearance by Tots the Clown from 2-5 p.m.
Dance to the music by SouthBound from 1-4 p.m. and special guest, 2017 Miss New York State Outstanding Teen Asia Hickman will perform her talent on the Saxophone at 12:15 p.m. on the stage. She will be on hand all day to talk about A Piece from the Heart: Inspiring Youth to Find Their Musical Passion.
The Gymnasts from Flach Gymnastics will be performing at 11 a.m. and Oldies 93.5 Bill Williams and his Prize Wheel will be on hand as well. Lowe’s will be giving a demonstration and The Columbia County Sheriff’s Department will be doing a display along with the Greenport Fire Department and Rescue Squad. Food and Beverages will be available at the Concession Stand under the Pavilion all day.
Items for the Raffle and Chinese Auction include two chairs, a couch and ottoman from Tom Alvarez, gift certificates from Price Chopper, Shop Rite, Angela’s Pizza, plus Coupons from Burger King, a toy from Columbia Tractor, misc. items from Dollar Tree, movie tickets from the Movie Plex in Greenport, a silver platter from the Fish Farm, a blanket donated by Columbia Greene Community College, a membership donated by Olana and the Times Union Center in Albany has donated two tickets to the Rodeo which will take place on Oct. 7. J R Contracting in Hudson donated the two bikes for the raffle.
Cash donations were received from Coldwell Banker Advisor Realtor, Bank of Greene County, John A. Alvarez and Sons, The National Union Bank of Kinderhook, Furniture Plus in Greenport and the Stottville Rod and Gun Club Inc. Special thanks to Greenport Pumper 3 for holding a Sub Sale to help raise money to help make Community Day possible.
