Greene County announces the 18th semi-annual Honor a Veteran Memorial Ceremony

CATSKILL — The Honor a Veteran Committee, under the aegis of the Greene County Veterans Service Agency, is still accepting posthumous nominations for the selection of one Greene County veteran to be so honored, through the close of business April 17.

The ceremony will include a presentation of a United States Flag, flown over the Nation’s Capitol Building, provided by Congressman Delgado, a Proclamation by the Greene County Legislature, reciting the veteran’s military and community history and achievements; and other presentations by elected officials, and community agencies and organizations. Presentations will be made to the family of the honored veteran, at 10 a.m. May 18 at Historic Catskill Point in Catskill.

Selection will be by the full committee, and the criteria are residency, military service history and decorations, as well as service to the Greene County Community. Submission packets must be received by April 17; and must be accompanied by the last report of separation (DD214), or Military Record and Discharge Certificate, and all other documentation you wish to be considered by the Honor a Vet Committee, for Nomination.

The packet can be downloaded and filled out online, and printed, from the website, by using the How Do I button at the bottom of the Veterans Services Department homepage. Nominations must be printed, and can be submitted directly to Greene County Veterans Service Agency.
