Germantown Junior/Senior High School ranked among the top 250 high schools out of 1,263 in New York state by the US News & World Report in their annual list of the nation’s schools. Additionally, the Jr./Sr. High School nationally ranked 2,397th out of 28,813 high schools in the country and was the only Columbia County high school in the rankings. When asked what unique aspects of the Germantown Jr./Sr. High School allowed it to rank so highly, District Superintendent, Sue Brown, spoke of the personalized nature of the school. “The small community & school size allows us to really know all of our students,” said Brown, “and we design our academic programming, including electives, based on student interest.” Brown added that “rich extra-curricular programming in both the performing arts and athletics” have been a vital part of keeping students engaged with the school.
