EAST DURHAM — Bernadette Gavin-Palmieri has an audacious plan. Bernadette is the owner of Gavin’s Irish Inn in East Durham, a town in the north end of The Catskills which, for decades has been known as “Little Ireland.”

If you’ve never been to “Little Ireland,” it’s definitely worth a visit. It is the home of dozens of Irish inns, bars, and restaurants.

Bernadette wants to raise the bar even higher, by inviting perhaps the most prominent American purveyors of Celtic music to her stage at Gavin’s Irish Inn, namely, Gaelic Storm.

You may remember Gaelic Storm from their rousing appearance in the film “The Titanic.”

This laid the groundwork for a career that would eventually find them topping the Billboard World Chart six times, making appearances at mainstream music festivals, and regularly headlining the largest Irish Festivals across the country, all the while gaining a reputation as a genre-bending Irish rock band, whose songs mix Celtic traditions with something uniquely creative. They have followed in in the years since by increasing their reputation as an impeccable live band, one of the best performing Celtic music in all of The U.S.

On Friday, August 31, Gaelic Storm will be gracing the Gavin’s stage for the first time ever, and it’s a huge step for Bernadette, who has never booked an act of this magnitude before.

Gavin’s was founded in 1961 and is now in its third generation of family ownership. The Inn consists of 50 rooms, most situated around a large swimming pool. The music festival goes on indoors and outdoors.

Tickets for Gaelic Storm can be bought online at
