Former C-GCC standout Kidd earns Empire 8 honor

ALBANY — Former Columbia-Greene Community College and current Sage College standout Chris Kidd was named the Empire 8 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for his efforts last week against Utica College and Elmira College.

Kidd exploded for a career-high 30 points and 13 rebounds in Sage’s win over Utica. In the game on Friday, Kidd’s 30 points is tied for the eighth most points in a Sage game and also surpassed his Sage rebounding high with 13 boards. He hit 12-of-18 shots from the floor and added three steals with two assists. Kidd backed that effort up with a career-best 14 rebounds with 19 points in a tough loss to Elmira. For the week, he averaged 24.5 points per game with 13.5 rebounds per game and shot an impressive 55.9% from the field over the two games.

For the 2018-2019 season, Sage is 5-7 with a 1-2 mark in the Empire 8. The Gators are back in action on January 11 travelling to St. John Fisher College for a 7:30 Empire 8 contest.

Kidd has played in all 12 games with 11 starts and is the team’s leading scorer and rebounders. He owns a 13.2 points per game average to go with his 8.3 rebounds per game average. He is shooting 47.2% from the floor and has 12 steals with six blocks and 14 assists. 

The senior forward has now scored more than 1,000 points in his collegiate career. He is now at 1,012 career points. His 30 points against Utica ranks in a tie for No. 8 in all-time Sage single-game efforts. The record is 36.
