First-time state senate candidate Pat Strong joins advocate Gary Greenberg to support Child Victims Act

September 12, 2018 11:40 am

KINGSTON — State Senate candidate Pat Strong today joined with advocate Gary Greenberg, survivors, and local community residents to announce her support for the Child Victims Act.

The Child Victims Act would help the survivors of sexual abuse seek justice and hold the predators and criminals accountable.

Incumbent State Senator George Amedore has repeatedly opposed the Child Victims Act, despite it having overwhelming support among New York families.

“Senator George Amedore and the Senate Republicans should be ashamed of themselves for failing New Yorkers by refusing to pass the Child Victims Act,” Pat Strong said. “By ignoring the survivors of this heinous crime, George Amedore is protecting the predators who abused these children and adults. I will fight to pass the Child Victims Act, and I will proudly vote for this bill as a State Senator next year.”

Gary Greenberg, Founder of Protect NY Kids, said, “George Amedore and the NY State Senate Republican Conference have failed to allow a vote on the Child Victims Act.

New York State is the worst state for reforming Statute of Limitation laws in child sexual abuse cases.

Pat Strong, a business and community leader, is the kind of state senator we need in Albany to see that the Child Victims Act passes.”

Pat Strong, a first time candidate and local business leader, was joined by Gary Greenberg outside Senator Amedore’s Kingston office as she pledged to the support the Child Victims Act.

The bill has stalled for years in the State Senate because of Senator George Amedore and the Republicans’ refusal to support this common sense bill.
