Driver killed in Germantown crash

GERMANTOWN — One person is dead after a two-car accident involving a commercial vehicle and a passenger vehicle in Germantown on Thursday, according to state police.

State police and the Germantown Fire Department are investigating the fatal crash that occurred around 4 p.m., south of Palatine Park Road on State Route 9G in the Town of Germantown.

A passenger car traveling south on State Route 9G collided with the load of a commercial vehicle traveling north on State Route 9G, according to state police.

The driver of the southbound passenger car was killed. There is no further information at this time pending family notification, according to state police.

State Route 9G, in the area of Palatine Park Road, was closed while state police and the Germantown Fire Department conducted their investigation into the crash. Route 96 was expected to remain closed for an additional two hours, according to state police.

The investigation is continuing, according to state police.
