Charlie H. Bartnick, formerly of Garrison, NY, current resident of The Pines in Catskill, NY, passed away knowing his family loved him with all their hearts, on August 1, 2019. As a child, Charlie grew up in Manhattan and the Bronx. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1946-1948, receiving the Victory Medal WWII. Charlie re-enlisted into the Navy during the Cold War, later receiving the Naval Service Medal and an honorable discharge in 1950. After the Navy, he worked for the Apex Watch Company. Later, Charlie worked his way up to Assistant Manager for Gristede Brothers until he retired. He was a Lifetime Member of the Continental Village Fire Department, and a member of both the Elks Club and the Rod and Gun Club. Charlie leaves behind his loving, caring, and devoted wife, Lottie of 67 years; his daughter Loretta Bartnick Zeliph (Jim); three loving grandchildren, Jason Zeliph, Jeffrey (Courtney) Zeliph, Jennifer (Jeffrey) Madigan. Charlie was blessed with 10 great-grandchildren, Zachary, Christina, Derek, Brent, Travis, Jacob, Ethan, Jason (JJ), Tommy, and Jack, and many nieces and nephews. Charlie leaves behind his brothers, Jack (Brenda) Bartnick and his godson Michael Bartnick, Al (Janet) Bartnick, Richie (Margie) Bartnick, and Eddie Bartnick. He was predeceased by his parents Christina Sheer Bartnick, Herman Bartnick, “Other Mom” Wilhelmina (Minnie) Bartnick, and his brothers, Andy Bartnick, Bruno Bartnick, Roy Bartnick, Billy Bartnick, and John Bartnick.
Our hearts are broken, tears will fall, and it is not a “goodbye”, but instead, “until we meet again”. Per Charlie’s wishes, a private ceremony with immediate family will be held at a later date.
