Catskill girls overcome slow start to win second straight

ALBANY -- Catskill shook off a slow start and went on to defeat Albany Leadership, 52-47, in Tuesday's Patroon Conference girls basketball game.

With top scoring threat Janay Brantley hampered by foul trouble early, Catskill fell behind 26-8 by midway through the second quarter. But hot shooting from Brantley and Ashley Shook and solid defense from Hannah Konsul and MaryKate Glass got the Cats back into it.

Catskill pulled to within 32-29 by the end of the third quarter, then outscored Leadership 23-18 in the final stanza to seal the deal.

Brantley finished with 22 points to lead the Cats. Shook chipped in with 12.

Dayari hit a game-high 24 points for Albany Leadership. Jamira Galloway chipped in with 14.

Catskill goes for its third straight win tonight at 6:30 p.m. when it hosts Hunter-Tannersville.

Hudson 55, Greenville 52

GREENVILLE -- Trailing by three entering the final quarter, Hudson outscored Greenville, 22-16, over the final eight minutes to pull out a 55-52 victory in Tuesday's Patroon Conference girls basketball game.

Hudson led 15-13 after one quarter and 22-21 at halftime, but fell behind 36-33 after three quarters, before surging ahead for good in the final stanza.

Deja Beauford led the Bluehawks with 21 points. Nya Robinson contributed 11.

Isabella Trostle poured in 22 points for Greenville.

Hudson hosts Coxsackie-Athens and Greenville goes to Chatham on Friday at 6:30 p.m.

Chatham 43, Taconic Hills 36

CRARYVILLE -- Chatham raced out to a ten-point lead after one quarter of play and went on to defeat Taconic Hills, 43-36, in Tuesday's Patroon Conference girls basketball game.

The Panthers led 16-6 through one quarter, 25-19 at halftime and 35-28 after three quarters.

Abby Hoag was Chatham's top scorer with 10 points. Hannah Taylor had eight.

Morgan Hoose's 14 points led the Titans. Marleah Perry chipped in with nine.

Chatham hosts Greenville, while Taconic Hills goes to Catskill on Friday at 6:30 p.m.

Rensselaer 63, Coxsackie-Athens 56

COXSACKIE -- Anya Josberger poured in 23 points, but it wasn't enough to prevent Coxsackie-Athens from dropping a 63-56 decision to Rensselaer in Tuesday's Patroon Conference girls basketball game.

Seventh-grader Ryan Carroll had 15 points and Tori Brockett contributed 11 for the Indians, who trailed 15-12, 29-19 and 42-36 after the first three quarters of play.

Jasmine Allert led Rensselaer with 17 points. Mackenzie Brown had 10.

Coxsackie-Athens visits Hudson on Friday.

VALATIE -- Riley Paul scored 21 points to highlight Ichabod Crane's 52-46 victory over Catholic Central in Tuesday's Colonial Council girls basketball game.

Madison Grahamhad 13 points for the Riders, who held quarterly leads of 17-7, 26-17 and 43-31.

Sarah Mattfeld's 21 points led CCHS. Riqiya Harris added 13 and Brookelynn Curtin had 10.

Ichabod Crane (6-8, 8-10) hosts Schalmont on Friday at 6 p.m.
