Cats claim Patroon title; Hudson Rebounds against Spartans

CASTLETON -- Catskill wrapped up its sixth Patroon Conference boys basketball title in the past eight years with a 68-57 victory over Maple Hill on Tuesday night.

Justice Brantley stood out for the Cats with 27 points, five rebounds and four assists.

The Cats trailed 15-10 after one quarter, but went up 39-30 at halftime and led 49-41 after three quarters.

Yusef Abushqeir added 19 points and Justin Worth 12 to Catskill's attack.

Nate Mannion paced Maple Hill with 19 points.

Catskill finished 15-1 in the Patroon, one game ahead of two-time defending champion Hudson.

Hudson 91, Greenville 74

GREENVILLE — After falling at home to Maple Hill, the Hudson Bluehawks rebounded with a 91-74 victory over the Greenville Spartans Tuesday night in the Patroon Conference boys basketball season finale.

The game was close at the half, with Hudson holding a 36-32 lead, however, the Bluehawks outscored Greenville 33-17 to take a 69-49 and they never looked back, capturing the 17-point victory.

The Bluehawks had six players reach double figures, with Jeremy Ramirez leading the charge with 18 points and Nytrell Hedgepeth-Franklin chipping in 17.

For the Spartans, they had four players reach double figures, and Cole Ackerman led the team with 17 points.

Hudson (16-4, 14-2 Patroon) and Greenville (11-9, 8-8 Patroon) await their Sectional seedings today.

Taconic Hills 51, Rensselaer 46

CRARYVILLE -- Russ Beck and Devon Charron combined for 37 points to lead Taconic Hills to a 51-46 Patroon Conference boys basketball victory on Tuesday.

Beck had 19 points and Charron contributed 18 for the Titans, who finish the regular season 7-9 in the Patroon and 10-10 overall.

Zack Mackey had 16 points and Zach Herrin 11 for the Rams.

PATROON GIRLS BASKETBALL

Chatham 65, Coxsackie-Athens 23

CHATHAM — The Chatham Lady Panthers cruised to a 65-23 victory over the Coxsackie-Athens Lady Indians on senior night in the Patroon Conference season finale Tuesday night.

For Chatham, Haleigh Mckay, who is in her fifth game back for the Lady Panthers, is slowly finding her rhythm on the floor again scoring a game-high 17 points. Senior guard Hallie Allen chipped in with 11.

For the Lady Indians, Gianna Pascuzzi led the way with nine points.

Chatham (7-13, 6-12 Patroon) awaits their Sectional seeding today. Meanwhile, Coxsackie-Athens finishes the season 1-16 and 0-16 in Patroon play.

Cairo-Durham 43, Albany Leadership 28

ALBANY — The Cairo-Durham Lady Mustangs dominated the Albany Leadership Lady Panthers 43-28 Tuesday night in the Patroon Conference season finale.

The Poulsen's led the charge for Cairo-Durham on the night, with Jenna scoring a game-high 14 and Jolie chipping in with 12.

Cairo-Durham (9-11, 9-9 Patroon) awaits their Sectional seeding.

Rensselaer 62, Taconic Hills 35

CRARYVILLE — The Rensselaer Lady Rams saw three players reach double figures as they cruised to a 62-35 victory over the Taconic Hills Lady Titans Tuesday night in the Patroon Conference season finale.

The Lady Rams held a 33-8 lead at the half over the Titans, holding Taconic Hills scoreless in the second quarter. Rensselaer continued to dominate in the second half to capture the 27-point victory.

Arianna Vogel led the Lady Rams in scoring with 15 and Catherine LaPorta chipped in with 14.

For the Lady Titans, Chandler and Morgan Hoose, Ali Shumsky, and Catie Shadic each scored five.

Taconic Hills finishes the season 4-16 (4-14 Patroon).

Maple Hill 37, Catskill 31

CASTLETON — The Maple Hill Lady Wildcats finished the regular season on a strong note, capturing a 37-31 victory over the Catskill Lady Cats Tuesday night.

Prior to the game, Maple Hill honored their lone senior, Taylor Gerrain.

Maple Hill entered the second quarter trailing 12-8, before outscoring Catskill 10-1 in the second quarter to take a 18-13 lead into the half.

The Lady Cats outscored the Lady Wildcats 12-8 in the third quarter, narrowing the deficit to one, 26-25, heading into the fourth before Maple Hill had an 11-6 final quarter to take home the six-point victory.

The Lady Wildcats were led by Natasha Strock with nine points and Stacia Coyne added eight.

For Catskill, Clinique Robinson scored a game-high 17 points.

Maple Hill (12-8, 11-7 Patroon) and Catskill (11-8, 10-8 Patroon) awaits their Sectional seeding.
