STILLWATER --  A five-goal barrage in a 14-minute span propelled No. 1 Ichabod Crane to its second consecutive Section II, Class B title game appearance with an 8-0 shutout victory over No. 5 Catskill in the Section II, Class B semifinals Thursday night in Stillwater.

"It means a lot because the program has achieved success before I got here," Ichabod Crane coach Michael Young said. "It's not about me, it's not about one player, it's about a program and when you have the expectations that Ichabod Crane has for men's soccer, you have to live up to that."

With their fast-paced offense, the Riders were on the attack immediately and applied pressure early on, jumping out to an early 1-0 lead just over five minutes into the game after Anthony Carlucci sent a perfect corner kick into the box that Nick Johnston headed home.

With 14:59 remaining in the half, once again it was Carlucci on a corner kick that found Matt Ragosta who was able to capitalize.

Ichabod held a 9-2 shots on frame advantage over Catskill after one half and both of Catskill's shots on goal bounced off the crossbar.

In the second half, the Riders turned their offense up a notch. Just five minutes into the period Nick Gallo gathered a ball just outside the 18 and took a shot that sailed past a diving Logan Denniston.

Four minutes later, Carlucci found an open Kevin Winglosky in the box and he was able to find the side netting for the goal, putting the Riders up 4-0 and giving Carlucci the hat trick in assists. Just 49 seconds later, the Riders added their fifth goal of the game after Giovanni Gomez was tackled in the box and Winglosky was able to convert the penalty kick for his second goal.

Less than two minutes later, after assisting on three goals, Carlucci finally got his moment to find the back of the nylon after Winglosky sent a cross inside the box that his teammate was able to boot home for the score.

The Riders capped off their scoring barrage with Nick Johnston finding an open Logan Groat for the score putting Crane up 7-0 with 26:09 remaining in the game.

The Riders final score of the game came with 12:59 left as Carlucci found an open Gomez in the box who booted it past Denniston into the side netting.

The Riders finished the evening with a 20-3 shots on frame advantage over Catskill and keeper Ethan Ingham had a quiet night with just one save. Denniston, despite surrendering eight goals, played a tough game in net for the Cats and made several big saves. The sophomore keeper finished with seven stops.

Carlucci finished the game with one goal and four assists, Winglosky added two goals and one assist and Johnston had a goal and an assist.

With the win, No. 1 Ichabod Crane advances to the Section II, Class B title game for the second consecutive year where it faces Colonial Council rival No. 3 Schalmont on Saturday at noon at Colonie High School.

In their lone matchup this season the Riders shutout Schalmont 4-0.

"It's going to take a really good effort because, as I said before, they are a very well-coached team. They're in the final for a reason -- it's Schalmont, they're always good," Young said. "We can't underestimate anything or look back at past results. They're going to play because it's the sectional final, so we have to come exactly the same way we came tonight with a lot of effort and a lot of patience and purpose."
