SAUGERTIES — A Cairo woman was charged with drunken driving in Saugerties after crashing her vehicle Saturday, Saugerties police said.

Colett L. Spain, 32, of Cairo, was traveling on Clark Van Vlierden Road in Saugerties at 1:19 a.m. Saturday in her Mazda 6 vehicle when she failed to maintain her lane and veered off the road into a guard rail, Saugerties police said. She then crashed into a tree where her vehicle came to a stop.

Saugerties police responded to the accident and interviewed Spain, who was not injured. Spain was taken into custody and processed at the Saugerties police headquarters where it was determined she had a blood alcohol content of .16 percent, according to police.

Spain was charged with driving while intoxicated, an unclassified misdemeanor, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation, Saugerties police said. She was released to a third party and is scheduled to appear in the Saugerties Town Justice Court on Feb. 21.
