ATHENS – The Trustees of the Athens Community Foundation announce the commencement of their annual grant cycle, for calendar year 2018. The Foundation will disburse greater than $241,000.00 in this funding cycle.
The Trustees encourage all qualifying organizations to apply for funding to support projects, programs, purchases, etc. that will benefit the Town/Village of Athens and its residents. The objective of the Foundation is to fund grant requests that serve the community directly.
Grant applications and submittal instructions can be accessed and obtained from the Town’s website. Applications can be completed electronically, and a hard copy version is available on the website also.
Seats on the Foundation’s Advisory Board are filled on an annual basis, and there are open positions in 2018. Advisory Board members individually and collectively evaluate all grant applications, and then make funding recommendations to the Foundations’ Trustees. Advisory Board members enjoy an opportunity to influence the allocation of available funds in a manner that best serves the community of Athens. This will be the Foundation’s 16th annual round of funding, and since its inception, approximately 450 grants, and more than $2.5 million dollars have been awarded. The Foundation looks forward to another successful grant cycle, and hopes that many qualifying, civic minded organizations will seek funding.
