CHATHAM — Chatham artist Ulrike Grannis will have an exhibition of her abstract painting, paper marbling and collage in the Joan Allen Art Gallery at Camphill Ghent in Chatham, from April 1 to May 31, 2019.

The artist will give a short talk at an opening reception on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at 4:30 p.m.

Ulrike has been teaching bookbinding, marbling, paper making and other related subjects for approximately thirty years. She has taught in schools at all levels, at universities, various adult-education institutions and in her studio at home. She has had a large number of exhibitions and was featured in a documentary film in German public television. She has taught courses in marbling and bookbinding at various places in eastern New York State and western Massachusetts. An overriding principle of her work and - when she is teaching - her courses, is to demand of herself and to encourage her students to achieve excellence in craftsmanship, for only then is it possible to translate one’s ideas into genuine art.

Camphill Ghent has received the 2018 Hobart Jackson Cultural Diversity Award from LeadingAge, a national association representing 6,000 nonprofit aging services organizations throughout the United States.
