Ancram man among 3 arrested on drug charges

ARDSLEY — An Ancram man was one of three people arrested on drug charges Wednesday following a stop on the New York State Thruway, police said.

Ralph Moody, 48, of Ancram, was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and possession of a hypodermic instrument, both class A misdemeanors; unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation; and vehicle and traffic violations, according to state police.

Jerome Grandson, 30, of Pittsfield, Massachusetts, was charged with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, a class B felony; two counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance; seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and possession of a hypodermic instrument, both class A misdemeanors, according to state police.

Krista A. Chadwell, 31, of Pittsfield, Massachusetts, was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance: narcotic drug, both class B felonies; seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and possession of a hypodermic instrument, both class A misdemeanors; and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation, according to police.

State police stopped a vehicle on the Thruway in Ardsley at approximately 8:45 p.m. Wednesday for vehicle and traffic violations, according to state police. While police interviewed Moody, who was driving the car, troopers had probable cause to search the car, state police said.

During the search, police found around 13 grams of cocaine, around 11.6. grams of heroin, 8 grams of marijuana and several drug paraphernalia items including a spoon, a glass smoking pipe, several hypodermic needles and multiple wax envelopes, according to state police.

The trio were arraigned in the Ardsley Village Court and Moody was held in the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $500 cash bail or $1,000 bond. Chadwell was held in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $15,000 bond and Grandson was held in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond, according to state police.

They returned to court 2 p.m. Monday.
