KINDERHOOK — One man was killed and a woman was taken to the hospital after a two-car crash Thursday morning, police said.

Emergency personnel were dispatched to a crash on Route 9 across from Golden Harvest Farms and Blue Spruce Inn & Suites in Kinderhook shortly after 11 a.m.

A man in one of the vehicles was pronounced dead, state police Sgt. Michael Comerford said. A woman in the other car was taken to Albany Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police have not identified the dead man or the other passengers involved in the accident.

The vehicles involved in the crash were a Honda Fit and a Pontiac Grand Am, Comerford said.

Route 9 was closed for several hours Thursday from the roundabout next to Four Brothers Pizza Inn to the Cross Eyed Owl Gift Shop as police investigated and reconstructed the crash. The road was reopened just after 1:30 p.m.

State police and the Niverville Fire Department responded to the scene.
