Philmont - Dorothy L. Higgins 74, of Philmont, died peacefully on Friday April 5, 2024. Born in Great Barrington, MA June 21, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Herbert E. Sr., and Helen (Bondarchuk) Jennings. After graduating from Ockawamick High School, Dorothy pursued a career in healthcare beginning as a Nurse's Aide and later graduating nursing school becoming an LPN where she retired from Pine Haven Nursing Home in Philmont after 38 years of service. Dorothy also spent many years volunteering for the Philmont Rescue Squad. Dorothy was an avid sport's fan and enjoyed being a spectator at her kids and grandkids sporting events.
She will be greatly missed by her loving family including her daughter Donna and (Ramon) Perry, her son Kenneth Jennings, brothers: Daniel Jennings and (Sandy), James (Vicki) Jennings, Charles (Debbie) Jennings and Paul (Teresa) Jennings, one sister: Rose and (Thomas) Maurer, grandchildren: Christopher and (Caitlin) Bleau, Brian Bleau, Stephen and (Ellen) Jennings and Jay Higgins, also great-grandchildren: Bria Bleau, Alyssa Bleau, Avah Bleau-Auman, Olivia Bleau, Riley Jennings and Brendan Jennings and great-great-grandson Ashton Craven as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Vernon G. Higgins in 2013. Also predeceased by her son Gary A. Higgins, her brother Herbert E. Jennings Jr, and her sister Nancy Blaise.
Visiting hours will be from 12 to 1 p.m. Friday April 26, 2024 at the Sacco Funeral Home 700 Town Hall Drive Hudson. Prayer service will follow with Pastor Ken Coddington officiating. Burial will be in Mellenville Union Cemetery.
